Yves has been a partner at KBHNS since 2003. He joined Burack Silverman in 1995 and became part of the KBHNS family as a result of the merger with Lawrence Kaplan & Company in 2002. He is a member of l’Ordre des Comptables Agréés du Québec (1991) and holds an accounting degree from l’Université du Québec à Montréal in Business Administration (1987). Yves is responsible for matters concerning TPS/TVQ, R&D and electronic transmissions both individual and corporate. Yves also manages a full practice of assurance and non-assurance clients and consults on business operations, and negotiations with various tax departments. Yves is a Member of the APFF.
Michael received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1991. He was admitted as a partner in the firm of Burack Silverman in 1994 playing a key role in the merger with Lawrence Kaplan & Company in 2002. Michael is a member of both the Quebec and Ontario orders of chartered accountants. While a generalist with broad based experience, Michael also specializes in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, financial negotiations with the banking community and estate planning. In addition to Michael’s role as managing partner he is the lead for new technology, having successfully implemented an eco-friendly and paperless work environment and promoting innovation in business operations. Michael also serves as Treasurer on the board of directors of PartÂge – Partners in Aging since 2011 and is on the Board of the Accountants Study Group, and a member of the Accounting Standards Committee.
Graduating from McGill University with his C.A. degree in 1970 and armed with seven years of experience with two well-known local Montreal firms Larry began his own practice in 1971. He operated as the principal partner continuously until 2002 when the merger that created KBHNS took place. Larry is a member of both the Quebec and Ontario orders of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Accounting Standards Committee. His reputation as a hands-on advisor and confidant to owner-managed businesses is what led to such a diversified client base with strengths in manufacturing, real estate and many other fields. Larry is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Montreal, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Larry assists his clients with cash flow analysis and management, profitability analysis, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions and estate and tax planning. He has served on the executive of a number of local sports and religious organizations. He also supports many charitable and cultural organizations and is the firm’s senior partner.
Isaac specializes in assurance, business planning and consulting, accounting and audit standards and financial reporting. He is a member of the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec and holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a degree in Public Accountancy both from McGill University. Isaac joined Lawrence Kaplan and Company in 1988 and became a partner in KBHNS in 2004.
In 1999, right after obtaining her bachelor's degree in business administration at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Rosa started as a junior auditor at Burack Silverman. She obtained her Certified General Accountant (CGA) title in 2003 following which she pursued her passion for tax at Université de Sherbrooke where she obtained her Diploma in tax (D. Fisc.) in 2007. Rosa continued her career in assurance up until 2011. In 2012 Rosa was offered the task to create and develop a personal tax department within the firm as well as being involved with rollovers, restructurings, non-resident issues and corporate taxes. She is a member of APFF and CTF. Rosa was inducted into the partnership on January 1, 2014 and will be continuing to pursue her passion for tax and further develop the Tax department at KBHNS.
